Jr. High Summer Camp 2019
This Year’s Theme
In the 80’s the Arcade was the place to be. Kids lined up and pumped quarters into classic games like Pacman, Donkey Kong, Legend of Zelda or Super Mario Brothers for the chance to beat the high score. Imagine being only one level away from the high score on your favorite game. Your heart’s pounding and your palms are sweating. Will you reach the high score and get to put your initials on top of the screen for all to see?
But many who are the greatest now will be least important then, and those who seem least important now will be the greatest then.
We have been told most of our lives that success only happens when you achieve that high Score. Whether it’s video games, school, sports, hobbies, or career, you just need to get to the top. But, should getting to the top be our main objective? Is life just like a game with the goal of getting the High Score even if it means pushing others out of the way?
When it’s “Game over” where do you stand? What or who defines success? What does God say about winners and losers? Jesus offers a much different strategy to being a winner. In Matthew 7 he warns of a way that may seem like winning but ends in defeat. In Matthew 19:30 Jesus says that many who are first will be last, and many who are last will actually be first!!
